The Los Angeles Chinatown Business Council (also known as the Chinatown Business Improvement District, or Chinatown BID) announced that it has been awarded a grant from McCourt Partners through its 2026 Complete Communities Fund.

The funding will support the Chinatown BID’s ongoing efforts to improve neighborhood safety, enhance cultural identity, and bolster small business resilience in historic Los Angeles Chinatown. As a trusted, community-oriented organization, the BID plays a critical role in supporting small businesses, enhancing neighborhood public spaces, and preserving Chinatown’s unique cultural identity.

“We are incredibly grateful for McCourt Partners’ continued commitment to Chinatown,” said George Yu, Executive Director of the Chinatown BID. “This support allows us to expand our reach, deepen our services, and continue the programming that makes Chinatown an authentic destination. Together, we are building a healthier, more connected neighborhood for everyone.”

With support from McCourt Partners, the BID will continue to deliver essential services – from street maintenance and graffiti removal to public safety programming and cultural activations – that reinforce the neighborhood’s standing as one of Downtown Los Angeles’ most storied and beloved districts. Investments like this are critical to ensuring that community-based organizations have the resources they need to sustain and grow the neighborhoods they serve.

McCourt Partners’ Complete Communities Fund supports initiatives that promote more inclusive, connected, and resilient neighborhoods across Los Angeles.

“The Chinatown BID exemplifies what the Complete Communities Fund is all about:  investing in organizations that deliver real, measurable results for the neighborhoods where we live and work,” said Jordan Lang, President of McCourt Partners. “George Yu and his team have built a trusted institution woven into the daily fabric of the community. We are proud to support their work and celebrate their deep commitment to a thriving Chinatown.”

“The Chinatown BID is the backbone of our community,” adds Jeanne Lam, owner of Golden Dragon Restaurant. “From the daily work that keeps our district clean and safe to the events that draw visitors and strengthen community ties, the BID’s presence is felt everywhere. This investment from McCourt Partners means more resources for the small businesses and residents who call Chinatown home.”

With this investment, McCourt Partners joins a coalition of local Chinatown businesses – including legacy businesses like Blossom Plaza, Far East Plaza, Golden Dragon Restaurant and Grand Star Jazz Club – committed to advancing the neighborhood’s long-term resilience. This growing base of support reflects a shared commitment to strengthening Chinatown’s economic vitality and preserving its cultural identity.
